But my passion for writing remains, and I will use this blog to continue to review sports books and, when possible, sports cards.
Sports books -- and perhaps books about other topics that interest me -- will be my focus here. All comments welcomed.

After 36 years in the newspaper business, I became a statistic last week when I was laid off by The Tampa Tribune. A numbers game, you know. Times have changed, and I left with no regrets.
But my passion for writing remains, and I will use this blog to continue to review sports books and, when possible, sports cards. Sports books -- and perhaps books about other topics that interest me -- will be my focus here. All comments welcomed.

You will be just fine, Bob. You are a superb writer/reporter/Blogger and you will find a new path that still enables you to do what you do best: report on sports and sports collectibles, and all that surrounds it. When Upper Deck laid me off after nearly 14 years of dedicated service, you were one of my supporters who publicly denounced their decision while giving me a real shot of encouragement when I needed it most. That meant a lot to me in 2011 and it's something I will not forget. Thinking of you and I'm quite confident you will bounce back nicely. Please keep me posted. -Terry Melia

Sorry to hear you were laid off. I've been on the hunt for a website like this, so please keep the book reviews coming. Like so many out there, I need help deciding what to read next.
